The City of Kirkwood regrets to announce that due to the hazardous drought conditions and the elevated risk of fire, this year’s Fourth of July Fireworks display in Kirkwood Park has been canceled. It will not be rescheduled. The entire event, including the musical concert and program, has been canceled for this year.

Were fireworks already purchased for the event? If so, can they be saved and used for next year or is the city out the money, although I know there were some sponsors for the event. I am glad Kirkwood elected to put safety first in this matter.

Why don't they have a display on Labor Day? It would be nice to actually be sitting in tolerable temps during the fireworks.

Why did they have to cancel the concert and program? That has nothing to do with fires!
