Alligator Found in Kirkwood Surfaces on Twitter

Reportedly the reptile was spotted by a Kindergartener who thought it was a common lizard. Police turned the animal over to the zoo.

One man's TwitPic of a 36-inch alligator generated some buzz online last week.

Jason Wagner (@threefourteen) posted a picture of an alligator which he says was found by a Kindergartener in a Kirkwood backyard near N. Sappington Road and W. Lockwood Avenue in Glendale.

According to Wagner, police caught the animal and turned it over to the St. Louis Zoo. The TwitPic drew comments that included "what?!?!" and "HOLY SMOKES!" It even prompted one local journalist to create a post on Storify.

A big thanks to Wagner for mentioning @KirkwoodPatch in his TwitPic.
