Are There Too Many Gas Stations in Kirkwood?

Some comments on a proposed new U-Gas on Kirkwood Road suggests that's the case. Do you agree?

News of a new U-Gas station being proposed for 915 North Kirkwood Road between Wilson and West Sarah avenues prompted a few comments from readers who think Kirkwood is too flush with fuel already.

We took a look and mapped the service stations we knew of in Kirkwood, including five within a stone's throw of the proposed new station. We found 14, but let us know if we're missing any.

Despite protests from adjacent neighborhoods, I am sure our City Council and Mayor will approve U Gas, much as they did for Mobil on the Run. And I am sure
our Mayor will scold the residents and tell them once again: "its like a new couch, you make not like it a first but will get used to it." Eventually all you'll have is rental houses back in our neigbhorhoods, as residents flee the encroaching businesses and related traffic, and move away to Muni's who respect their citizens and don't bow down to the fuel gods.

The sad thing here is that the city is not supporting the small business gas stations like the one located just down the street on Kirkwood road. These businesses have been a part of the city for a long time. I find it sad that the station at Geyer and Manchester is not enough. It is not an inconvenience for people to go a little further for a fill up. It is a shame that the city council does not listen to the wishes of its constituents.
