Test Drives, Video Net $17,000 for KHS
Suntrup Ford Kirkwood gave residents a chance to jump behind the wheels of its 2012 vehicles to raise money for Kirkwood High School, and a student video documenting the event caught the attention of the Ford Motor Company.
presented two checks totalling $17,000 to during the varsity girl's basketball game Friday night.
The first was for the school's participation in the Ford Motor Company’s “Drive One 4 UR School," program which earned the school $10,000. The second, for $7,000, was for a video by students from the KHS Broadcast Journalism II class that was selected as one of three national winners of the Drive One 4 UR School video contest.
"Drive One 4 UR School" invited residents to support KHS by test driving a 2012 Ford vehicle last September, according to a post on the Kirkwood School District's website. For every valid test drive, the Kirkwood motor dealer donated $20 to KHS. More than 400 residents took a spin which earned $8,000 for the school. Suntrup Ford Kirkwood contributed another $2,000 to as a gestiture of gratitude for the community's support of the event, the school district says.
