Investigators are trying to determine what caused a former Kirkwood police detective's Fenton home to explode Friday morning.
Jerry Bay, 70, and his wife, Connie, vacated their home in the 2100 block of Palatine Court that was for sale several days before the explosion. Bay retired as an evidence detective with the Kirkwood Police Department in 2001, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
A call to authorities came in at 5 a.m., FOX-2 reports. One man was injured as a result of the incident but is in fair condition after being treated at a hospital, the Post reports.
