The Archdiocese of St. Louis has announced that family, friends and the Mary Queen of Peace community are invited to attend the funeral at the Cathedral Basilica at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the Christian burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Kirkwood. However, the wake is by invitation only.

Updated at 11 a.m, Aug 2: On Wednesday, the Archdiocese of St. Louis posted a news release on its website stating that funeral arrangements for a Glendale mother and her two children who died in a shooting on Monday would not be disclosed publicly.

However, the obituaries for Catherine Murch and her children are in today's St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Angie Shelton, a spokesperson for the Archdiocese, said Wednesday that, "We did that (posted the news release) in hopes of being able to provide a scenario so the family members could privately grieve."

The Murch family has requested that they be allowed to grieve privately, the Archdiocese of St. Louis stated in the news release.

When a funeral arrangement is made, the funeral home typically writes an obituary to post on its website and sends the information out to media at the family's request.

Media will not be permitted at the wake, funeral or burial.

Authorities are still trying to piece together the details on on what happened at the Glendale home. Catherine Murch and her children Mary Claire and Mitchell III, ages 8 and 10 respectively, were found shot to death in the home at 740 Hawbrook Monday morning.

Mitchell Murch, II, (the husband and father of the deceased) was in the home on the first floor when it happened. He was questioned and released, and police are not considering him a suspect at this time.

The children attended Mary Queen of Peace (MQP) School in Webster Groves, and the family was very active in the church. An impromptu prayer service at the church Monday night drew hundreds.

The Rev. Craig Holway, associate pastor at MQP, prayed for the family in his blog on Tuesday. He also prayed for the community that "the bonds of Faith, Hope, and Love that join us together grow stronger as we pray and cry together."

He added in his blog, "Peace to you today; tell and show your spouse, children, and closest friends you love them!"
