Indie Film Produced in Kirkwood Needs Community Support

FBI thriller "Casualties of the State" kicks off a crowd-funding campaign today.

Thank you to Corner Film Productions for contributing the following article.

Kirkwood produced Casualties of the State is nearing completion, but filmmakers are calling on the community to help put the finishing touches on the FBI thriller.

Today marks the start of a "crowd-funding" campaign that lasts through May 7 and includes perks for fans. Key locations were staged in 2009 and 2010 at Kirkwood City Hall and the Kirkwood Police Department station.

Filmed in the St. Louis region, drama thriller Casualties of the State features only Missouri and Illinois actors and crew. A small company of local filmmakers, Corner Film Productions, began the independent production in 2009, filming on weekends and taking time to edit and improve the movie with care.

Funding through the campaign will support completion of the film, including visual effects, color correction, cinematic score and mastering a sound mix. The cost of the finishing touches is $5,200. In return for their pledge, fans can select from personally meaningful perks, including pre-sale products and unique project experiences.

As of last night, Corner Film Productions, has raised $174 toward its $5,200 goal.

Learn how you can contribute to the completion of the film.

"Please spread the word to your friends and family, because the more fans who pledge, the better we can showcase our St. Louis film worldwide," writer and producer Alan Lamberg asks the community in a statement. Lamberg is employed full-time as a geospatial analyst for the City of Kirkwood.

As of 2011, the website IndieGoGo has hosted over 45,000 funding campaigns in areas such as music, charity, small business and film.

Casualties of the State follows two seasoned FBI agents and a young security analyst as they investigate the murder of several high-ranking government officials. As the trio races against time to catch the killer, they find themselves in an unexpected moral struggle where there is more at stake than just the lives of the killer's victims.

I hope our community will find it encouraging to know that Kirkwood City Hall and the Police Station were locations for heroes in a drama-thriller movie. I've talked with several Kirkwood residents and businesses who know of historic places in Kirkwood being staged for movies. Please share your stories here!

@Owen, we've reached 100% of our goal. With 35 hours left, we welcome additional contributions to support marketing and distribution. Besides, the more supporters, the merrier! We have a lot to offer.
