Kirkwood City Council Approves $70k For Fillmore Park Expansion

The park will take over an adjacent plot at 400 S. Fillmore Ave.

At their Jan. 3 meeting, the Kirkwood City Council unanimously voted in favor of purchasing a plot of land at 400 S. Fillmore Ave. for $70,000 to expand Fillmore Park.

The funds will come from the ½ Center Parks and Recreation Sales Tax Fund. The property’s cost is $67,500 with the remaining $2,500 to be spent on legal and closing costs.

A house that was on site was demolished earlier last year. The community will be invited to discuss plans for the site in public meetings.

In the meantime, tell us in our comments:

What would you like to see in this new addition to Fillmore Park?

A fenced in dog park would be great!

leaving it as an open play ground could be dangerous because of the limited sight of cars traveling on the hill on south Fillmore road. Children are so fast and could run out into the street and the limited sight could be disastrous.
