Kirkwood Lawyer Accused of Bombing Ex-Partners' Home

Surveillance video included in a new civil suit shows Mark Bates purchasing possible bomb materials days before two pipe bombs exploded at a South St. Louis home.

Surveillance video included in a new civil suit reveals Mark Bates, an attorney from Kirkwood, buying possible bomb materials days before two pipe bombs were set off at a South St. Louis home in October 2010, Patch partner Fox 2 reports.

The two bombs exploded October 1, 2010, at the home of Beth and Darin Boggs. In a lawsuit filed Monday in St. Louis City Court, the Boggs accuse Bates of setting off the bombs.

Bates was a former law partner of the Boggs at the former firm Boggs, Boggs and Bates.

According to the suit, animosity between the parties began when Bates was caught forging documents and stealing.
