The ninth annual Taste of Webster-Kirkwood to benefit the Shepherd’s Center of Webster-Kirkwood was a night to remember. The event was held Sunday night at the Kirkwood Community Center.

The Shepherd's Center is an interfaith volunteer organization that provides programs and services for older adults. The Taste of Webster-Kirkwood event is the signature fundraiser for the organization.

Gayle McHenry, the center's executive director, compared this year’s event to those in the past. “This is the largest turnout we have ever had,” McHenry said.

Highlights of the evening included appetizers and drinks followed by nibbles and sips provided by some of the areas best restaurants, brew houses and wineries. Attendees also enjoyed music by the St. Louis Chamber Jazz featuring Pat Welch, Dan Levin and Dick Ruland. A silent auction which featured premier items was open for bids and 50/50 “Pot of Gold” raised funds for the center while lucky winners enjoyed 50 percent of the pot.

The Shepherd’s Center of Webster-Kirkwood has provided services to senior adults since 1998. Volunteers assist older adults with services such as transportation to medical appointments, fun classes in art, exercise and education, day trips to fun destinations in the St. Louis metropolitan area, spring cleaning and weekend yard work, and much more. Proceeds from the Taste of Webster-Kirkwood help to make all of this possible.
