The Kirkwood Board of Education approved tax rates for the 2012-13 school year at the board meeting on Sept. 24. The 2012 residential real estate tax rate for homeowners was set at $4.2841 per $100 of assessed valuation. The 2012 residential rate is $.0037 lower than the 2011 rate of $4.2878.
At the meeting, the school board set the 2012 tax rates at the “Current Year Tax Rate Ceiling” or the authorized tax rate for each class of property.
The tax rates will generate $809,883 in new revenue at the 96 percent collection rate. The $809,883 increase is attributed to new construction within the District and increases in the commerical and personal property tax rates.
