VIDEO: How To Make an Authentic Mexican Margarita

Amigos Cantina's margarita was voted number one in the area by St. Louis Magazine. Bar manager Edgar Dominguez instructs us on the proper way to prepare the essential Cinco de Mayo beverage.

Why even bother making a margarita on Cinco de Mayo unless it's the real thing? This video shows you how to do just that.

We went to Amigos Cantina on Jefferson Avenue in Downtown Kirkwood, and bar manager Edgar Dominguez showed us how to make one muy bueno. According to the Ecuadorian native, this is as authentic a margarita that one can find in St. Louis. And since it was voted the number one margarita in 2009, he should probably be taken at his word.

Recipe for "Traditional Mexican Margarita:"

  • 1 part Puro de Sauza Hornitos Silver Tequila
  • 1 part Cointreau
  • 1 part fresh lime juice (a secret in-house mixture at Amigos)
  • A splash of Organic Agave Necture
