The St. Louis Post-Dispatch released a statement from the St. Louis Catholic Archdiocese: "We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic loss of life involving a family in one of our parish communities. Mary Queen of Peace Pastor Fr. Bob Reiker and Associate Pastor Fr. Craig Holway are working with grieving family members and the MQP parish family to cope with the aftermath of this tragedy. Counseling will be made available to the community. We ask that you keep the family and parish in your prayers."
Police have blocked traffic along the street in front of the home, and plan to stay on hand to keep watch overnight. Investigators from the Major Case Squad were interviewing neighbors.
KMOV-4 reported that the father said he was reading at the time shots were fired. The station reports that the father is being questioned by police, but the station reported that officials said this case appears to be a murder-suicide. FOX2, in a tweet from reporter Chris Hayes, said "police say they'll treat deaths of 2 kids & Mom as homicide until they rule it out."
