I'm sure many of you are familiar with the crosswalks on West Essex right at Kirkwood High School. About 80-85 percent of the time I try to cross at one of these crosswalks and there is a car coming they do not yield for me.
I've actually been crossing the street with my daughter and two dogs and people won't stop unless you are standing directly in their lane. Not sure why people are in such a huge rush that they can't follow the law and yield to a pedestrians in the crosswalk. Can Kirkwood PD start issuing tickets for failure to yield to a pedestrian?

Dougherty Ferry, too. Recently I stopped my car for a teen at the crosswalk and 3 oncoming cars kept right on going. I thought maybe it was dangerous for me to stop and let her think others would, too.

There is the same problem crossing Geyer into Kirkwood Park. I have always thought the motorist are just clueless about what a crosswalk means.
