Built in 1966, the Kirkwood Community Center is a centerpiece for local residents' indoor recreational activities. The center features a skating rink, two gymnasiums, a 400-seat theater and several meeting rooms. A renovation in 1992 expanded the facility with a new gym and more meeting rooms and offices, and gave it a modern touch. The center regularly provides rental space for meetings, parties, dances and bridal and baby showers. In the midst of Kirkwood Park and the Aquatic Center, the Kirkwood Community Center acts as an anchor for many families in the area.
