Kirkwood Public Library and the Greater St. Louis Book Fair were both held this past weekend within a five minute drive of each other. It was a bibliophile's little taste of heaven.
Each location was filled with eager readers standing in que waiting for those doors to open and the world of literature to open wide the imagination.
Boxes and bags, push carts and tubs, people walked in and out of the aisles of fiction, literature, poetry, history, children's books, and many others, turning over the volumes. Some just grabbed big piles (learned later they have an online bookstore) and others carefully examined each choice and thoughtful decided if it was worth a place on the bookshelf.

These annual events, as well as the Webster Groves Public Library book fair, are reminders in this world of digital everything, that sometimes, just sometimes, a good book is still the best entertainment.
