5 Places to Go in Kirkwood for the Sake of National Ice Cream Month

Just in case you need an excuse to grab a sundae or ice cream cone: July is National Ice Cream Month.

Sure, it hasn't been quite as toasty here in St. Louis as last summer, but we're pretty sure ice cream is good at any time of year. Just in case you're looking for a reason to get some frozen desserts, July is National Ice Cream Month.

To help you celebrate, here are five places around Kirkwood you can get a sundae or cone or whatever frozen treat suits your fancy:

  1. The Custard Station: It's right by the Kirkwood Amtrak station and serves up frozen custard with a trainload of topping choices. Take note: There is only outdoor seating and they only take cash for payment, so come prepared!
  2. Red Mango: In fro-yo fashion, Red Mango has self-serve flavors and toppings to choose and pay by the ounce.
  3. Baskin Robbins: O.K., this location is in Des Peres, but this ice cream shop famous for its 31-plus flavors just opened earlier this summer.
  4. Oberweis: The dairy known for traditional hard ice cream and milkshakes also delivers within 15 minutes of the location, so even if you don't feel like getting out, order in!
  5. Culver's: They have ButterBurgers and fries and a full menu, but their frozen custard treats have been reason enough alone for customers to make a pitstop.
Another place is coming soon: Andy's Frozen Custard is planning to open in Kirkwood by Labor Day.
