Costume Ball Celebrates Living History

Fourth Annual Time Travelers' Ball features silent auction, dancing and awards.

A ball in St. Charles offers fans of history, Dr. Who and steampunk a chance to pull their costumes out of the closet a few weeks after Halloween.

Historical re-enactors, fantasy, cosplay, steampunk and anime costumed-fans are invited to the fourth annual Time Traveler's Ball in St. Charles.

The event will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Stegton Regency Banquet and Conference Center. Tickets are $36 each and include appetizers, catered buffet dinner, an open bar, dancing and a silent auction. Costumes aren't required.

The ball is a fundraiser for the Living History Company, a group that provides re-enactors and encampments for festivals and events, offers resources for re-enactors and holds workshops on costuming and performing.

In addition, the event will feature the first Living History Awards of Excellence presentation. Nominations for the awards will open September, with voting in October. Categories include historic character, historic fictional character, historic group, historic event and historic venue.
