Frugal Family: Cheap Books, Bottomless Wings

Frugal Family clues area residents on to a handful of cheap deals and freebies each week.

Since the Frugal Family column started at the beginning of February, the weekly feature has alerted the readership of Patch to dozens of deals on groceries, clothes, kids' toys, tools, household items and entertainment options.

True to form, this week we continue the parade of freebies and discounts in the community. As always, we encourage readers to comment at the bottom of the page with feedback and further suggestions for local savings.

The at the Webster Groves Public Library is open to everyone. Used books, CDs, and movies for all ages are on sale for cheap.

Deal: Besides the 5 to 9 p.m. Patron's Preview on Thursday, which costs $5, entry to the fair is free.

2. in Webster Groves

Every once in awhile, it's nice to take a load off and savor appetizers and a brew while watching a Cardinals game. Your kids can enjoy the game room.

Deal: Customers who purchase a beverage can indulge in the restaurant's award-winning bottomless wings from 7 to 9 p.m. every Monday for just $5. Our frugal recommendation? Eat a light lunch and come hungry.

3. in Brentwood

Pick up a coupon book in the store and check out the wide array of coupons to help you "Get Your Bunny's Worth." Our pick will help those with spring allergies treat their runny noses, itchy throats and watery eyes.

Deal: The 100-count economy box of Wal-dryl Allergy tablets has been marked down from $9.99 to $7.99, which is a 20 percent discount.

Good Through: April 30

4. in Crestwood

Do you have a prescription for glasses? Are you a child? Are you a member of AAA or AARP? If any of the above are true, LensCrafters has a discount for you right now.

Deal: Print a coupon to receive 30 percent off eyeglasses and sunglasses with a prescription. Members of AAA and AARP also receive 30 percent off, and kids' eyeglasses are discounted 50 percent every day.

Good Through: The first offer for 30 percent off glasses with a prescription expires April 30. The other three offers are continuous.

Children and adults can get in shape while learning the art of self-defense from a respected champion and hall-of-fame karate master.

Deal: Gee offers one complimentary private lesson for would-be martial artists of any age, shape or size to get acquainted with kenpo.
