Get Out: Barbecues, Rock 'n Roll Trivia and 'America's Veterinarian'

This week's list is eclectic, fun and an excuse to get out!

Why Go: Support the Freedom Fighters goal of erecting a Missouri State statue to honor Missouri's soldiers who have lost their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Pricing: Nominal fee for the food


Where/When: Springdale Park, 2280 S Old Highway 141, Fenton; 9 a.m. parking begins, 10 a.m. show starts.
Why Go: Cast your vote on different makes and models of German cars, get a photo with Miss Deutsche Marque and enjoy barbecue by folks from PawStoppers. Local musicians provide entertainment. Proceeds help keep Special Agent German Shepherds on the prowl by funding PAW Stoppers, an organization that trains and assists police department canines.

Why Go: Learn techniques designed to help thwart an attack by someone with a gun. Krav Maga techniques are used by law enforcement, F.B.I., C.I.A. and military personnel across the country. The first session is basic, the second is advanced.

Why Go: Cause it's gonna be fun to go down KSHE's rock n' roll memory lane with a St. Louis flavor! Plus, it's a fundraiser for the Save Darfur Coalition and Genocide Intervention Network.

St. Louis fair trade, green and organic merchants will help you learn how to use your money to support living wages for people and sustainable practices for the planet. Items range from clothing and accessories to coffee, home decorations and much more.

Why Go: The Dr. Spock of dogs is on a tour promoting his book "Your Dog: The Owner's Manual." Dogs are welcome and there will be give-aways!

Why Go: This might be something to consider as part of your strategy for survival in today's challenging economy. SCORE volunteers provide knowledge about the basics of getting a business off the ground.

Why Go: You're in the mood for a little dark comedy about someone who creates a business around helping people write suicide notes.
