Get Out: Local Guitar Heroes, Swing and Free Films

Here's a roundup of what's going on in and around Kirkwood and Webster Groves this weekend.

It's Friday, and you've got no idea what you'll do for the weekend. Kirkwood-Webster Groves Patch has you covered.

1. DAVID'S GUITAR LOFT ALL-STARS

Where/When: , 34 South Old Orchard Avenue, Webster Groves, Saturday, 8:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.

Why Go: The show will feature a host of talented local musicians performing a variety of musical styles. Support local music and remember why the electric guitar was responsible for the birth of rock 'n' roll.

2. YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN

Where/When: , 111 S. Geyer Rd., Kirkwood; Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: Young ones and adults will get a kick out of seeing beloved Peanuts characters come to life. Plus, the musical comedy boasts a great selection of catchy songs.

Pricing: $7

3. BROTHA D & THE WOO DADDIES

Where/When: , 17 W. Moody Ave., Webster Groves, Friday, Doors: 9 p.m., Music: 10 p.m.

Why Go: This Jump-Blues, Rockabilly-Swing band will have you jumpin' and jivin'. Just what you need to cut loose after a long week of work. Plus, Brotha D & the Woo Daddies rock out Standards, Classic Country, Surf and Pop.

Pricing: $5 cover: 21+

4. ST. LOUIS YOUTH AND FAMILY VOLUNTEER FAIR

Where/When: , 516 S. Kirkwood Rd., Kirkwood, Sunday, 1-4 p.m.

Why Go? Thirty-five organizations will set up booths which offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for different interests and ages (as young as 10). Attendees can walk around and visit booths to learn more about that specific opportunity. 

Pricing: Free with a donation of one can of food to be given to a local food bank.

5. ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL

Where/When: Washington University, Brown Hall 100, 1 Brookings Dr., St. Louis; Friday 8 p.m., Saturday, 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Why Go? The Italian Film Festival offers a variety of critically aclaimed, award-winning films that you can't find at your everyday theater. This weekend's films (translated titles) include The 1000 Euros Generation, The Man Who Will Come and 18 Years Later. And you can't beat the price! 

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: ; Saturday, 6-9 p.m.

Why Go? Urchin Collective Comics, a local comics group, will release and sign its newest anthology. Buy a book, grab a cup of coffee and support local artists.
