Kirkwood Grad Suits Up 'Tiny Superheroes' in Charity for Sick Kids

Robyn Rosenberger, class of '03, now lives in Seattle. See why she sews super hero capes for kids.

Robyn Rosenberger didn't leave Kirkwood High School thinking she'd be suiting up superheroes. But that's what she's doing, and she's gained worldwide notoriety for it.

Publications and news outlets such as The Daily Mail in Great Britain, The Huffington Post and The Today Show have all featured Roseberger and her charity, Tiny Superheroes.

The idea is simple: Rosenberger sews small capes for kids with congenital disorders, sick hearts and other illnesses as way to call attention to their bravery and their "superhero" status as they cope with illness.

The New York Daily News reported that she’s sent out 300 capes to kids across the country and has gotten donations of $33 each to continue the charity mission. That was April 17.

"I am confident that being raised in such a community-focused town taught me most of what I know today," Rosenberger told Patch in an email. After graduating from KHS in 2003, Rosenberger and her husband later moved to Seattle to make a change.

She'll be in Springfield, IL, on May 14 doing a TV interview with a young girl named Brenna who was the inspiration for the project.

"Just 4 months later, we've empowered over 500 extraordinary TinySuperheroes," Rosenberger told Patch.
