Kirkwood Picking up Trash Early This Summer

Kirkwood residents should have their trash at the curb by 6 a.m. on the morning of their regular collection day.

The city of Kirkwood stated in an email that due the summer heat, trash routes will begin earlier than usual and the early pick-up has already begun.

The city said the early waste pick-up took effect June 1.

The following details were included in the city's recent "Sanitation News" email.

Summer Sanitation Collection

Due to summer heat and other issues, our sanitation workers started their routes earlier, effective June 1.  This means you should have all items to be collected at the curb by 6:00 on the morning of your regular collection day.

ALSO:  During the summer months, yard waste tends to be much lighter, meaning there are fewer bags and fewer bundles of limbs.  Therefore, yard waste service moves along more quickly.  This means that the process of collecting yard waste, which during the fall and spring can take all day, typically only takes a half day.  Therefore, if you place your yard waste at the curb after lunch, it may be missed.
