Parents, talk with representatives from 12 area preschools next week at the Kirkwood Public Library to find the right fit for your little one. Learn about this KPL opportunity and others in our third edition of In the Stacks.

In our third edition of , our weekly look at what's going on at the (KPL), we serve up a very special opportunity for parents, an NFL guest and holiday happenings.

Preschool Fair Brings Schools to You

KPL is thrilled to offer the public its first preschool fair Monday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.  This program is for parents of prospective preschoolers and will provide an opportunity for them to gather information on all the wonderful preschools in the Kirkwood area. The following twelve area preschools will be on hand with a representative:

NFL Referee Shares Life on Front Yard Lines

Bob Wagner will discuss his 18-year career as a NFL referee at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Kirkwood Public Library’s lower level meeting room.

Wagner, who retired as an NFL official in 2002, worked several post-season playoff games including the Rams’ Super Bowl victory over the Tennessee Titans. Other notable officiating included the last home game of the St. Louis Football Cardinals on Dec. 15, 1987, and the first home game of the St. Louis Rams on Sept. 9, 1999.

Wagner and his wife Elaine have been Kirkwood residents since 1967.

The program, which is sponsored by The Friends of the Kirkwood Public Library, is free and open to the public. Reservations can be made by signing up in the library’s Books & Beyond Gift shop, or by calling 314-821-5770, extension 1023, and leaving a name and phone number. Refreshments will follow the presentation.

Holiday Happenings Kick Off at KPL

The Friends of the Kirkwood Public Library is sponsoring it second annual Holiday Kick Off Event on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

The event will offer discounts on special items in the Books & Beyond gift shop only that evening. In addition, there will be a Giving Tree for gifts to the library. Hors d’oeuvres, desserts and beverages will be served.

Tickets are $25 for members of the Friends; $30 for non-members. Reservations may be made by turning in a form at the Books & Beyond gift shop or by completing the reservation form. Reservations are due by Nov. 17.
