Take a look at the lake's new look as the city preps for a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday.
Revamp efforts to Walker Lake in Kirkwood Park are being officially celebrated Monday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Phase three of the project has been underway since last fall. Highlights of the project include:
- New, ADA-compliant sidewalk around the lake perimeter
- Lights along the walkway
- Former lake island configured into a peninsula
- Walker Lake turtle statues moved
- Rain gardens and storm water control areas replace previous racquetball and handball courts; the courts will be constructed near the tennis courts in 2014
The ribbon cutting ceremony at Walker Lake is scheduled for Monday at 6:30 p.m.
