Pianist Daniel Schene and Nancy Mayo Perform Works for Two Pianos at Webster University

Webster University presents a concert featuring pianist Daniel Schene, director of keyboard studies, and pianist Nancy Mayo performing works for two pianos. The program includes:  

J.S. Bach: French Suite in E-Flat Major
Debussy: Estampes
Mozart: Sonata in D Major for Two Pianos, K. 448, with Nancy Mayo

The concert will be held in the Winifred Moore Auditorium of Webster University.

Daniel Schene
A native of New York, Professor Daniel Schene has performed as a recitalist, chamber musician, concert soloist, and accompanist across the United States and Canada, as well as France, Italy, Turkey, Chile, Brazil, Greece and Asia. Professor Schene is the duo partner of Eva Szekely, first violinist of the Esterhazy Quartet. He is a frequent guest artist with the Saint Louis Symphony's Chamber Music St. Louis concerts and the Prelude series at Powell Hall. He has collaborated with renowned cellist Zara Nelsova and Denes Kovacs, director of the Liszt Academy in Budapest. 

After his debut with the Charlotte Symphony at fifteen, Professor Schene attended the North Carolina School of the Arts. He received the BM and MM in Piano Performance from Indiana University, studying with Gyorgy Sebok and Enrica Cavallo-Gulli. At Indiana, he was the recipient of the prestigious Joseph Battista Memorial Award. Professor Schene has been Artist-in-Residence and Director of Keyboard Studies at Webster University since 1983. He is a founding faculty member of the Indiana University Summer Academy and the Institute for Advanced Vocal Studies in Paris. Mr. Schene records for the CRI label. 

Nancy Mayo
Nancy Mayo is a collaborative and solo pianist. She has been a prize winner in several solo competitions, including the South Carolina Music Teachers Association (SCMTA), Music Teachers Southern Region Association, the Clara Wells Competition in Pittsburgh, and the Columbia (S.C.) Philharmonic Young Artist Competition, which included a performance with the Columbia Philharmonic. After graduating summa cum laude with a BA and MA in piano performance from Bob Jones University, she worked as a repetiteur at the Columbia (S.C.) Lyric Opera and Hamburgische Staatsoper (Germany), and also served as ballet and orchestral pianist at the Staatsoper and Hamburgische Philharmonic. Mrs. Mayo has taught at Newberry College, Columbia College, and Columbia International University.

In St. Louis, she has served as pianist for the Saint Louis Women's Chorale, Sheldon Chorale, and as an extra keyboardist with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. She is a vocal coach in the Opera Theatre of St. Louis Artists-in-Training program and repetiteur for the Opera Theatre of St. Louis Festival, Union Avenue Opera and Winter Opera St. Louis. In addition she serves as chorus master for Winter Opera St. Louis and rehearsal pianist for the Muny. Mrs. Mayo also maintains a private piano studio, and enjoys an active schedule as a coach, soloist, and collaborator.
