STLCC-Meramec Hosts Orchid Ensemble for Workshops and Concert

The Meramec Music department’s Guest Artist Series presents the Orchid Ensemble for a series of workshops and a concert April 19-20, in the Meramec Theatre on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road.

The workshop “Introduction to the Orchid Ensemble” is scheduled 2:30-3:30 p.m. April 19. The ensemble will discuss and demonstrate their unique style and instrumentation.

There will be two workshops on April 20.  “The Silk Road,” featuring presentations and demonstrations by members of the ensemble, will be in the Meramec Theatre 11 a.m. – noon.  From 2-3 p.m., participants can “Meet the Musicians,” as members of the trio will demonstrate their instruments in separate, interactive sessions.

Friday night culminates in a concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Meramec Theatre as the Orchid Ensemble is joined by the Meramec Orchestra, conducted by Gary Gackstatter, the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, conducted by Jerry Myers, and the Voices of Magic, directed by Gloria West.

All workshops and the concert are free and open to the public.
