The Webster University Chamber Orchestra Presents a Concert Featuring Erik Harris, Double Bassist

The Webster University Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Paul Davis, presents a concert featuring guest artist Mr. Erik Harris. Mr. Harris is an adjunct instructor of Double Bass at Webster University, and is the Principal Double Bass for the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.

The Chamber Orchestra will open the concert with Gustav Holst’s “Bach’s Fugue a la Gigue,” a piece that is a lively setting of a Bach fugue in Celtic style. Following is Johann Christian Bach’s “Sinfonia No. 15, which captures the elegant style of early Classical period music. Mr. Harris will perform the Bottesini “Concerto for Contrabass,” which is a grand showcase of virtuosic ability. The concert closes with a unique modern work, “Strange Humors,” by John Mackey, which is an exotic blending of Middle Eastern and African dance rhythms.

Where: Concert Hall of the Community Music School of Webster University
535 Garden Ave.
