The Webster University Symphony Orchestra Presents a Program of Classical Music in the Magnificent Space of Webster Hills United Methodist Church

The Webster University Symphony Orchestra (WUSO), under the baton of conductor, Paul G. Davis,  presents a program of live classical music in the magnificent space of Webster Hills United Methodist Church. 

The repertoire for the concert centers on two of Beethoven’s treasured works. The “Overture to Egmont” was composed as part of incidental music for Goethe’s play Egmont. This powerful music depicts the struggle against tyranny. Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 1 in C Major” successfully launched Beethoven as a worthy composer of symphonies, proving that his ability matched and expanded the symphonies of Haydn and Mozart.

Two guest artists will be featured with the WUSO. William Partridge is the Canon Precentor Organist and Choirmaster at Christ Church Cathedral and a member of the Music faculty at Webster University. Mr. Partridge will perform Haydn’s “Organ Concerto No. 2," which was composed early in Haydn’s career prior to the rising popularity of the pianoforte. Also featured is Mr. Erik Harris, performing the Concerto for Contrabass by Johann Baptist Vanhal.  Mr. Harris is Principal Bassist for the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and serves on the Music faculty at Webster University.
