Webster University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts Presents “The Government Inspector”

Webster University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents “The Government Inspector,” by Nikolai Gogol and adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher. The production will run from April 20-24 in the Browning Theatre of Webster University's Loretto-Hilton Center, 130 Edgar Road.   Curtain time is 8 p.m., except Sunday, which will have a 2 p.m. matinee only.

"The Government Inspector" is a hilarious comedy about locals in a small provincial town who learn of a surprise visit from an undercover government inspector sending them into a frenzied state of panic. Where is he? He could be anyone--even a penniless rake and his servant who takes advantage of the dishonest officials’ attempts at bribery and lies about his noble position. A town turned upside-down, will they discover who the real inspector is? Witty, smart and wildly satirical, "The Government Inspector" exposes the hypocrisy and corruption of the town with biting moral satire.
