Local Artists Compete at Paint Webster Plein Air Event

The Webster Community Arts Foundation awarded more than $1,200 in prize money to local "plein air" artists for their paintings of Webster Grove's scenes.

The Webster Community Arts Foundation held its 5th annual Paint Webster Plein Air event on Saturday.

The yearly event celebrates the "wonder and immediacy" of the art of painting and encourages artists of all ages to paint a Webster Grove's scene in plein air, which is French for open air. Plein air artists paint onsite to capture a scene or landscape.

Artists had seven hours to complete their paintings. The foundation awarded more than $1,200 to winners in a variety of different categories at a reception Saturday at the Monday Club.
