Sen. Claire McCaskill Endorses Hillary Clinton For President
Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton has not declared her candidacy, but Tuesday she received McCaskill's backing for a bid for the White House in 2016.
According to numerous news agencies, Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill of Kirkwood announced Tuesday that she'll support Hillary Clinton in a 2016 run for the White House.
"The nudge gives Clinton a marquee, swing-state backer and could be an early glimpse at a major source of support for any potential campaign -- Democratic women in the U.S. Senate," and NBC article stated Tuesday.
The former secretary of state has not made an official announcement that she will put her name in in the hat for the next presidential election, but according to NBC news, Clinton is already piling up the endorsements.
McCaskill reportedly announced her support on the website of "Ready for Hillary" which is a group reportedly not tied directly to Clinton, but is aggressively gathering support for Clinton's potential candidacy.
According to USA Today, McCaskill made the following statement on the group's website Tuesday, "It's important that we start early, building a grass-roots army from the ground up, and effectively using the tools of the Internet – all things that President Obama did so successfully – so that if Hillary does decide to run, we'll be ready to help her win."
