ALDI Public Hearing Date Set in Des Peres

The grocery store chain's permit will be up for aldermen review next month.

Grocery store chain ALDI is one step closer to moving to Des Peres after the city's Planning and Zoning Commission recommended a conditional use permit request last week.

As Patch previously reported, ALDI, based in O'Fallon, Mo., shared plans to add three new stores in the St. Louis area this year. The Creve Coeur location opened in May, with another one aimed for the corner of Kingshighway and Delmar in the city.

The Des Peres location would take the place of a former Michael's store in Olympic Oaks Village at 12145 Manchester Road.

Requests requiring Board of Aldermen approval include an elevation upgrade to Olympic Oaks Village, and a conditional use permit to operate a grocery store at that location. Planning and Zoning approved both requests, moving on for a public hearing set for July 15 at 7 p.m., according to City Administrator Douglas Harms.

What do you think? Will you shop at the new ALDI? What else would you like to see come to the area? Tell us in the comments.
