Des Peres Expected to Get New ALDI Supermarket This Year

The grocery chain based in O'Fallon, MO, is expected to add three area stores, including a Creve Coeur location that opens May 2.

Discount grocery store chain ALDI is planning to open a Des Peres store this calendar year, according to published news reports.

Both the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the St. Louis Business Journal report that Des Peres will get a store, although neither source was specific about where it would open in the city.

The newspapers also said the chain would open one store in the city of St. Louis at the corner of Kingshighway and Delmar. The discount supermarket is about to open its 21st location in Creve Coeur on May 2.

The division vice president for O'Fallon, MO-based ALDI, Rob Jeffries, told the Post-Dispatch: "As ALDI continues to grow in St. Louis, we are pleased to open new locations to help more customers stretch their dollars even further."

The chain just opened a location on Halloween in the Chesterfield Valley.

Finally! Great news. Don't have to drive to Maplewood or Balwin. Aldis is my choice for value. The chicken salad is the best. Tom Juengst, Des Peres

This is great news! I just searched for more information and it looks like there was a planning and zoning meeting in Des Peres on April 10th where Aldi's was requesting a Conditional Use Permit for 12145 Manchester Rd which I believe is the old Michaels in the Olympic Oaks Village.

Just what we don't need in Des Peres, another grocery store within 3,000 feet of two others. Manchester Rd. Between Bopp and Ballas is already vehicular suicide!
