Kirkwood Grad Lands Cover of Business Magazine

Mike Perry climbed his way from project manager to president of HBD Construction.

Michael Perry has come a long way since graduating Kirkwood High School in 1976. The Pioneer's work in the field of civil engineering has not only earned him the position of president of HBD Construction but also the September cover of Smart Business St. Louis.

The business publication that profiles a different leader of industry each month talked to Perry about how he brings innovation to HBD, like a partnership with a company to work on a nuclear facility.

While HBD works on projects far and wide, Perry and his team continue to see success in and around his hometown turf.

Perry started as a project manager at HBD the Monday after he graduated from Missouri S&T.

“I remember when Mike started here at HBD, he was eager with high-energy and it was easy to see even then that he was going to make a long-term impact on the company” said Brian Kowert, HBD chief operating officer in a statement.
