Portnoy projects that the grand opening for the new Majik Market will be June 18. A public hearing on the special use permit is set for June 2, and on June 16 the Kirkwood City Council will vote on the permit.

"We will start remodeling the first week in June to bring (the new space) to a very presentable, warm and friendly condition," Portnoy said. "It's going to be the same Majic Market with the same menu and with our great gyro sandwhiches made with our unique recipe."

After 20-years at the corner West Essex Avenue and North Geyer Road, Majic Market closed . Portnoy said it was important to him to reopen the store in Kirkwood, where he has built relationships with residents.

"I appreciate all my customers being so patient, and I promise
not to disappoint them in the new location," Portnoy said.
