Celebrate Mardi Gras Kirkwood Style

One 19 North Tapas and Wine Bar brings us a taste of Mardi Gras with special Cajun menu offerings this weekend into early next week.

has proven himself a master of tapas at in Kirkwood. This weekend he also proves himself master of Mardi Gras by introducing Cajun themed specials on the menu for five days only, Friday through Tuesday.

Over half a dozen Cajun specialties will be served in addition to the regular menu. Cajun Jambalaya, a can’t miss choice, is nicely seasoned with tender pieces of pork and beef along with tomato, onion, green pepper, celery and rice.

The Crawfish Etouffee is served with garlic toast points, almost like a dip, so it can be shared or savored alone. The crawfish are cooked slowly in a light roux and seasoned with parsley, scallions, onion, celery, green pepper and hot sauce for a great bite.

The Chicken and Andouille Gumbo is a traditional favorite done in a dark roux and served with rice. This dish has a nice spiciness to it. Additional specials include: crispy okra, smoked Gouda grits with Tasso ham, New Orleans BBQ shrimp and blackened salmon with creamed spinach. All of these dishes pair nicely with One 19’s sangria but don't miss the Hurricanes available this weekend.

Live music adds to the Mardi Gras festivities with Rocky, a soft rock act, on Friday night; Mike Mattingly’s eclectic mix of old and new favorites on Saturday night; and finally, Jim Manley will play New Orleans Jazz on Fat Tuesday.
