On the Run at Mobil Officially Celebrates Opening

The convenience shop at the gas station on Manchester Road opened in December and cut the ribbon this week.

On the Run at Mobil at the Manchester and Geyer Roads intersection officially celebrated their grand opening Friday after being open since December.

The ribbon cutting kicked off grand opening festivities, followed by appearances throughout the day from St. Louis Cardinals' Fredbird, a clydesdale, the Rams' Rampage and the Blues' Louie. Customers could also register to win Cardinals tickets and other prizes.

As Patch previously reported, the On the Run expansion was quickly contested at its first proposal by Kirkwood residents, claiming the addition would increase traffic, displace businesses and impair pedestrian safety. The City Council approved the project in January 2012.

The expansion involved demolishing an existing Mobil service station and another building that housed other businesses. The new facilities have double the service stations and the On the Run convenience mart.

What do you think? Have you seen any issues with traffic since On the Run has been in business? Tell us in the comments.
