Restaurant Inspections: Complaints Reviewed at Dewey's, Buffalo Wild Wings

Restaurant inspections are conducted by the St. Louis County Department of Health. Patch has a summary of the public reports affecting area eating and drinking establishments reviewed in June or July.

Grade rankings range from A (highest) to C (lowest). Report comments and explanations are provided in Patch's summary. Follow-up inspections are noted, other visits are routine.

Buffalo Wild Wings, 1244 S. Kirkwood Road
Inspection Date: July 3 (complaint)
Grade: A (100)
All ice bins and containers clean to sight and touch. Soda nozzles and soda gun holders clean to sight and touch. Green scotch bright pads used for occasional cleaning, no evidence of pad pieces around. Spoke with manager about cleaning schedules and sanitizing food contact surfaces.

Dewey's Pizza, 124 N. Kirkwood Road
Inspection Date: July 11 (complaint)
Grade: A (100)
Discussed complaint with Danielle Crawford, manager on duty regarding employee carrying the pepper mill under their arm. The pepper mills are 14 inches and the the grinder is not being touched. The employees are not handling ready to eat foods with their bare hands. Discussed employees hygiene in general. There have been no other complaints.

Ami's of Rock Hill, 9824 Manchester Road
Inspection Date: June 20
Grade: A (98)
Back door was open to utilize screen door, however screen door has large gaps on all sides leaving openings to the outside. All openings to the outside shall be protected against entry of pests. COS closed door. Sanitizer buckets in kitchen tested above 200 ppm chlorine. Chlorine shall test between 100-200ppm when using it as a sanitizer. COS diluted bucket sanitizer to 200ppm. 

Gaskets of reach in coolers broken. All equipment shall be in good repair. Correct by June 30, 13. Spice containers on storage shelves in back soiled with food debris and grease residue. Non food contact surfaces shall be cleaned at a frequency to prevent buildup. Correct by June 30.

Cutting boards heavily scratched with deep crevices. Scratched cutting boards shall be resurfaced or discarded. Correct by June 30. Outside garbage receptacle lid was opened. Receptacle kids shall be tight fitting. COS closed. Kitchen walls and ceilings heavily soiled with dust and debris. Facilities shall be cleaned as often as necessary to keep clean. Correct by June 30. 

Kitchen floor tiles broken throughout with a refrigeration drain running into it with no coverings making surface not easily cleanable. Materials for floors, walls, and ceilings shall be smooth, durable, easily cleanable, and non absorbable. Correct by Oct 20 or next routine inspection, whichever comes first.

Altai Mongolian, 9528 Manchester Road, Rock Hill
Inspection Date: June 20 (follow-up)
Grade: A (99)
Dishmachine is currently broken with parts on order. Facility is using 3 compartment sink to wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes. Continue working to fix machine. Exterior of refrigeration units are clean and no food debris on them. Microwave ovens and hood vents still soiled from last inspection. Correct by June 30. Mops are hanging up and floors and walls have been cleaned.
