Restaurant Inspections: Richard's Ribs Follow-Up; McDonald's Complaint

Restaurant inspections are conducted by the St. Louis County Department of Health. Patch has a summary of the public reports affecting area eating and drinking establishments reviewed in the months of March, April and May.

Grade rankings range from A (highest) to C (lowest). Report comments and explanations are provided in Patch's summary. Follow-up inspections are noted, other visits are routine.

Richard's Ribs, 10727 Big Bend Blvd.
Inspection Date: April 10 (follow-up)

Person in charge is registered for safe food handlers course on May 20, 2013.

McDonald's, 350 S. Kirkwood Road
Inspection Date: May 29 (complaint report)
Grade: A (93)
There were no paper towels at the hand sink; corrected while present. Replaced towels. Found two bottles cleaning chemicals by box soft serve brushes without labels. Corrected while present. Facility not able to provide hepatitis A vaccine documentation for all employees. Hepatitis A documentation not maintained in a clear and concise manner. Basement sewer lines not completely guttered. Need to gutter sewer lines in basement above food storage area and walkway for food. Correct by next routine inspection. Floor tiles broken; replace broken floor tiles.

New owner as of March 1, 2013, has filed permit and plan review. Management thinks complaint has come from unhappy employees.

Dewey's Pizza, 122 E. Lockwood Ave.

Grade: A (98)
Knives in holder on wall soiled around handle/blade connection Food contact surfaces shall be clean to sight and touch. Damp wiping cloths sitting on counters in back and in empty pan in front of house. Wet wiping cloth shall be stored in a sanitizer solution when not in use. Correct by May 9.

Cyber Cafe, 101 Edgar Road
Inspection Date: March 26
Grade: A (100)
No proof of food safety certification provided for two employees present at time of inspection (expired). Person in charge shall demonstrate knowledge of food safety or provide valid proof of food safety certification. Corrected by food manager showing his valid certification. Warewashing machine inoperable and no sanitizer reading in sanitizer bucket. Food contact surfaces shall be properly washed, rinsed and sanitized with proper sanitizer concentration per manufacturer requirements. Corrected by providing sanitizer from central kitchen.
