Rising Costs Shutter Paper Warehouse after 32 Years

The owners will consolidate to their Creve Coeur location. The store operated for decades in Kirkwood.

, a 32-year staple among Kirkwood businesses, closed last week, citing rising overhead costs and flat sales.

The store at 10334 Manchester Road specialized in selling a variety of paper products, including paper plates, writing paper and greeting cards.

Diane Kammeier, president of The Paper Warehouse, told Patch they would consolidate the business into one location, its , at 465 N. New Ballas Road.

"We couldn't justify having two locations," Kammeier said. "We're hoping our loyal customers will visit our store on Ballas. We hope to sell online someday, but feel the personal interaction and constant changing inventory is what makes our store special."

The Kirkwood store closed June 26 after 32 years in the city.
