Sapore Italian Cafe Now Open in Kirkwood

The restaurant moves into the space formerly occupied by Trattoria Branica in the Woodbine Center. Head chef and owner Paul Buzzetta talks about his approach to food and his new Kirkwood location.

Paul Buzzetta, head chef and owner of Sapore Italian Cafe, couldn't be happier with his decision to move his restaurant to Kirkwood.

The restaurant opened its doors the week before Thanksgiving in the space formerly occupied by Trattoria Branica in Kirkwood's Woodbine Center.

"I fell in love with this location," Buzzetta said. "It has the fountain, the patio and that local restaurant feel. It doesn't feel like a strip mall."

Buzzetta reports that business has been good even though the restaurant has yet to advertise its presence in Kirkwood aside from a sign outside the eatery.

Visitors to Sapore Italian Cafe can expect fresh ingredients and the knowledge that they are in the hands of an experienced and authentic Italian restauranteur. Buzzetta's parents are from siciliy and his family has been in the restaurant business for 38 years.

"We pride ourselves on the freshest ingredients and serving fresh seafood daily," Buzzetta said. "Food is not a job, it's a passion. We always like to welcome people and try to feed them whether here or at home."

Sapore Italian Cafe, located at 451 South Kirkwood Rd., is open Monday through Friday for lunch from 11:30-2 p.m. and Monday-Saturday for dinner from 5-10 p.m. Call for reservation or catering information: 314-909-7575.
