Sears Marks Crestwood Store for Closure

Kirkwood, Des Peres, Glendale and Oakland residents will soon have to head out to South County Center to shop at the retailer.

at Watson and Sappington roads is one of more than 100 stores set to close after low sales and increased expenses. So far it's the only metro-St. Louis store among the planned closures of Sears, Kmart and Land’s End locations nationwide.

The Sears Holdings Corporation announced 70 stores officially marked for closure, including the Crestwood Sears, and plans to announce an additional 30 to 50 stores soon, according to the company.

While Sears has not yet announced how many employees will be impacted by the closure, typical stores employ between 40 and 80 people.
