When Does Billy G's Open in Kirkwood?

Kirkwood's newest restaurant is putting the finishing touches on the location.

One of Kirkwood's newest restaurants is on pace to open early in August.

With a target date of Aug. 5, pending permits and inspections, the latest project from St. Louis's Gianino's Group is aiming to bring some favorite recipes to the table accompanying a "chef-driven" menu.

Check back into Patch tomorrow for a peek inside the restaurant.

"We're keeping some of our tried and true pasta recipes, but we'll also feature some more inspired versions of things than your typical bar food," Maria Austermann with Billy G's told Patch.

Austermann described Billy G's as a family-friendly, casual restaurant that will feature "carefully prepared" food.

"We're also focusing on having stellar service and having a great family experience," Austermann said.

Gianino's Group also operates Bill Gianino's and Frankie G's in Oakville, Joey B's on the Hill and several other St. Louis-area restaurants. While many menu items will overlap from the other restaurants, some that will be unique to Billy G's include barbecue smoked in-house on the weekends, homemade pizza dough for classic St. Louis-style pie, and established favorites such as sandwiches, pasta, salads and meat entrees.

Billy G's now occupies the former Massa's restaurant space on Argonne Drive across from the Kirkwood Amtrak station. The location has been gutted and revamped from the interior to the "fire table" on the large patio.

Austermann said the patio will nearly double the size of the restaurant and would be ideal for parties and group gatherings. They are also eventually hoping to make use of an outdoor bar.

What do you think? Will you try Billy G's? Have you been to any of the other Gianino's Group restaurants? Tell us in the comments.
