Benefit Concerts, 'Cars 2' Agents on a Mission Tour, Stout and Oysters

Here's a few good excuses to get out this weekend.

1. Carnival of the Animals Family Concert
Where/When:
Powell Symphony Hall, 718 N. Grand Blvd., Grand Center mid-town arts district; 3 p.m. Sunday
Why Go: Although it's recommended for children ages 5-12, the entire family will enjoy this animal parody featuring music by Mozart and Saint Saens.
Pricing: $7-$16

2. Hare in the Air Egg Hunt
Where/When:
Logan College of Chiropractic, 1851 Schoettler Rd., Chesterfield; 10 a.m.-noon Saturday
Why Go: Festivities include an appearance by Cardinal's mascot 'Fredbird' from 10-11 a.m., a bunny arriving by helicopter at 11 a.m., an egg hunt divided into different age groups, a petting zoo, balloon artists and McGruff the Crime Dog. The event starts at 10 a.m. with registration.
Pricing: Free

3. Truman Spring Concert
Where/When:
Truman Elementary School, 12225 Eddie and Park Rd.; 2-6 p.m. Sunday
Why Go: The spirit of youth will be front and center with musical presentations by 1st graders, How Does Your Garden Groove?; 3rd graders, The Green Machine Team; 5th graders Truman Time Machine, Dancing Through the Decades. A final presentation is by the "Oh the Places You Will Go Choir."
Pricing: Free

Where/When:
, 7260 Southwest Ave., Maplewood; 2-10 p.m. Sunday
Why Go: What's not to enjoy? Music, food and beer! Plus the proceeds go to the Whole Planet Foundation, an organization that creates economic empowerment partnerships with poor people in developing-world communities that supply the Whole Foods stores with product.
Pricing: $5 suggested donation

Where/When:
, 3650 S Lindbergh Blvd., 4-8 p.m. Sunday
Why Go: Catch the performance of American Idol star, Bo Bice. Local rock n' roll band John Henry and the Engine also performs. Proceeds go to the City of Sunset Hills Tornado Relief Fund. No age restrictions.
Pricing: $10 at the door

6. Stout and Oyster Festival
Where/When:
  The Schlafly Tap Room, 2100 Locust St., downtown; 5 p.m.-midnight Friday, 11 a.m. midnight Saturday
Why Go: Try different varieties of oysters paired with 3 styles of Schlafly stout: Oatmeal Stout, Nitro Irish Stout and Coffee Stout.
Pricing: Free admission

7. 'Cars 2' Agents on a Mission Tour
Where/When:
Museum of Transportation, 2967 Barrett Station Rd., Kirkwood; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday
Why Go:  A fun event showcasing the cars modeled after the ones featured in Disney's "Cars 2" upcoming release. Fans can see remote-controlled models of Lightning McQueen, Mater and Finn McMissile.
Pricing: $4-$6

8.The Nields at Focal Point
Where/When:
2720 Sutton Blvd., Maplewood; 8 p.m. Friday
Why Go: Two sisters Nerissa and Katryna are singer/songwriters in the folk roots tradition but with their own twist on the genres.
Pricing: $13 in advance, $15 at the door

9. That 80's Band at Highlands Brewing Company
Where/When:
105 E. Jefferson, Kirkwood; 9 p.m. Friday
Why Go:  This band serves the music you know you get nostalgic for and the look. Let them take you there!
Pricing: $5

Where/When:
, 10709 Watson Rd.; 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday
Why Go: Indulge in all things teddy bear-related including a teddy bear artist gallery show, hundreds of collectible teddy bears and door prizes.
Pricing: $6 adults, $2 children
