Earth Day Festival, Carnival and a Play for Foodies

Spring is here with fresh happenings around town. Come on out!

1.
Where/When:
Washington University, Skinker Blvd. and Forest Park Parkway; 4-8 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Why Go: Fun times! It's the largest and oldest student-run carnival in the United States. Highlights are the amusement rides, food and student performances.
Pricing: Free admission

Where/When:
, 7260 Southwest Ave., Maplewood; noon-5 p.m. Saturday.
Why Go: Celebrate the anniversary of the end of prohibition. A sampling of more than 30 beer styles will be featured with musical entertainment by Swing DeVille.
Pricing: $25 in advance, $30 day of event

Where/When:
, 1900 Urban Dr., Brentwood; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
Why Go: Kids have an opportunity to learn healthy behaviors and have fun while getting fit. Festivities include a bounce house, a family Zumba class and a watermelon bob in the pool.

Muny Grounds, #1 Theatre Drive in Forest Park; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
Why Go: Learn how to show more love for the planet and yourself! Some of the activities to check out include the Recycling Extravaganza, the Relaxation Station and musical entertainment on two stages.

Why Go: The versatile local singer performs jazz, R&B and blues.

Why Go: Great food and drink from some of the area's finest restuarants. Proceeds benefit Shepherd's Center of Webster-Kirkwood, an organization that provides services for older adults.
Pricing: $35 in advance, $40 at the door

Marble Stage Theatre Company, Crestwood Plaza Art Space, 36 Crestwood Plz.; 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday.
Why Go: A food-driven, one-cook, interactive comedy with Marge. Delicious!
Pricing: $20, $15 seniors and students

, 140 E Jefferson Ave.; 10 a.m. Saturday
Why Go: This musical program for kids is about expressing good character. Created by Kirkwood recording artist, Sue Kennedy.
Pricing: Free

Where/When:
UMSL-Touhill Performing Arts Center, 1 University Blvd.; Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Why Go: Guest artists include Ron Carter,  Clark Terry, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and the UMSL Jazz Orchestra.
Pricing: package prices for Friday and Saturday night events start at $25

10.
Where/When:
, 5000 S Lindbergh Blvd.; 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday
Why Go: The kids can enjoy the egg hunt, then the entire family can watch "Tangled."
