Sunday Morning Adult Education Class: African American Spiritual Traditions
African-American
Spiritual Traditions,
taught by student pastor Sonya Vann, will survey the experiences and thoughts
regarding various forms of expression, movement and practice which are found in the African-American church. In addition, participants will have the
opportunity to delve into the theological, artistic and historical
understanding of the African culture in America as we discuss the effects of
slavery, Jim Crow, the Civil Rights Movement and prosperity on what is known
today as the “black church”. Join Sonya for this series on the four Sunday
mornings in February following morning worship in the Adult Education Room. Class meets on Sunday mornings in February. Childcare available; please call 314-822-2240 by Friday before class to make arrangements.
