Ursuline Lacrosse Sister Schools Tournament

Ursuline Academy, St. Louis, recently participated in the Ursuline Sister Schools' Lacrosse Tournament. Each year the tournament travels to a different city.

The Ursuline Academy Lacrosse team recently participated in the Ursuline Sister Schools Tournament in New Rochelle, New York.  For the past seven years, the lacrosse teams from the Ursuline schools in Wilimington Delaware, Dedham, Massachuettes, New Rochelle, New York and St. Louis, Missouri have participated in this awesome event.

While we do compete, it is so much more than that.  It’s about the sisterhood, service, our united vision with St. Angela; it’s about the differences in our school colors, class rings and even mascots.  It’s about being a sister no matter where you live.  The common bond we all share because of an education that is rooted in St. Angela is unbreakable.

We were fortunate enough to spend four days in the New York area.  Our girls spent a day attending classes and learning what it is like to be a student at The Ursuline School.  We toured New York City and even stopped in for a cupcake at the Cake Boss' bakery, Carlo's Baskery in Hoboken, NJ.

In the seven years we have participated in this tournament, we have witnessed a terrific connection with each of our teams, our coaching staffs and especially the bond between the athletic directors.  We live miles apart, each of us reporting to a different state association; yet we still connect and communicate on such a familiar level. During the weekend, one could hear the girls sharing e-mails, facebook connections and even realizing that some of them will be classmates in college next year. On the flight back to St. Louis, conversations overheard amongst the girls showed that they realized that by being an Ursuline student they are connected to something that is bigger than they are, bigger than the school they attend, bigger than the consortium of Ursuline schools.  St. Angela says in one of her counsels, “Living all united in heart, you will be like a might fortress.”  Based on the experience of the 7th Annual Sister Schools' Tournament, the fortress is mighty.

GO, KOALAS; GO, RAIDERS, and, of course, GO, BEARS!
