BBB: Models Say Eyewear Firm Didn't Award Promised Prizes

Earlier this week, the Better Business Bureau issued an alert on Contemporary Vision Center and Ochiwear of Manchester after the companies failed to award prizes in a modeling contest held a year ago.

Models had contacted the BBB saying that they had not received prizes of up to $1,000 and eyewear promised when they entered a contest to find male and female models for a national advertising campaign. The winning models had been announced on Ochiwear’s Facebook page a year ago.

Modeling agencies in the area said they were upset that the company had failed to carry through on promises after they promoted the contest to their models. Details of the BBB warning are in a press release posted on the BBB website.

The BBB advises consumers to review all the rules of any contest they enter and to check out the BBB Business Review of any company promoting a contest. Some contests are legitimate, but others can open consumers to marketing promotions or scams that can be annoying or can cost them in the long run.

Consumers can file complaints with the BBB anytime online, and our BBB Business Reviews are available 24/7 on our website. The reviews give background information on the companies and will show any complaints against the companies and how those complaints were resolved.
