Thank You

Getting by with help from our Friends.

Inspired by Patch editors volunteering at St. Louis Crisis Nursery and Kirk Care, who help feed the hungry in Kirkwood, we give thanks to the Friends of the Kirkwood Public Library.

As a result of their tireless fundraising, the Friends give the library money to purchase services and equipment that we could not otherwise provide out of our tax base.

We are so grateful for their support and hard work. In the past five years this organization of five-hundred members has raised over $300,000 for the library enabling the purchase of AWE computers in the Children's Room, staff workshops, equipment and materials.

They also provide moral support and a great store, Books and Beyond,  filled with treasures. One of the most popular holiday fundraisers is a personalized Letter from Santa. According to Head Elf, Virginia Kramer, "Santa letters put a smile on the faces of young and old alike."  Request forms are available at the library or on the library’s website http://kirkwoodpubliclibrary.org/santa.pdf.  Make certain to get your request in by December 5th for a North Pole postmark.

The library has several good books on volunteering.  For titles go to volutarism in our catalog.
